Metronidazole induced neurotoxicity: a case report

چکیده
Metronidazole is a well-known antimicrobial agent, used for the treatment of anaerobic bacterial and protozoal infections. It generally well tolerated with common side effects like nausea, dizziness, headache metallic taste in mouth. But prolonged use metronidazole can cause neurotoxicity ataxic gait, dysarthria, seizures encephalopathy. Here, we are reporting case 60 years old male patient who was chronic alcoholic liver abscess he developed acute ataxia dysarthria after four weeks metronidazole. The causality this “probable” score 7 as per Naranjo scale. managed by discontinuing there considerable improvement his gait speech that. recorded properly adverse drug reaction form sent to nearby (ADR) monitoring centre.
